Member Review - D.J. Fluck of Stadium Scene

Chase Field looks like a giant airline hanger with a retractable roof, but believe it or not, it is a great place to watch a game. On hot days where they plan on opening the roof, the roof is kept closed until right before game time. It takes about 4 minutes to fully open and costs about $3.00 in electricity. The blowers do the rest and keep the inside quite comfortable. I once sat at a game where it was 95 outside, the roof was open, and it felt like it was 75 inside.

Be sure to check out my full review of my tour of Chase Field over at Stadium Scene TV.

Stadium Information

About Chase Field:

Opened in 1998, it earned its nickname, "The BOB" from the original stadium name, Bank One Ballpark. It sits in the middle of downtown Phoenix, next to a quickly developing area of shops, restaurants, and other commercial businesses. The roof is retractable, but often closed due to the harsh summer weather.

Tour Info:

A tour is offered year round for a small donation to the team charity. Visit Chase Field Tours to check the latest schedule and rates.

Security Screenings:

Like almost all US and Canadian Stadiums, you will need to enter through a metal detector before entering the stadium.  Be sure to give yourself extra time and don't bring any weapons or devices that could be seen as a weapon inside.  Pat down searches may be required.

Bag Policy:

New for 2020: Clear bag policy is now in effect. Each fan may bring one clear plastic/vinyl/PVC bag no larger than 12" x 6" x 12" or a one-gallon freezer bag (like a Ziploc bag).  Fans may also carry a small clutch purse no larger than 4.5" x 6.5" with or without a strap.  This rule applies to all events at Chase Field, even non-baseball events. All bags are subject to search.

Note: Bag and security policy listed above are for typical sporting events. Special events, concerts, and other situations may result in variation to the policy. Please check event website for any changes or variation.

Parking & Transportation

Parking Options

Parking is readily available around the ballpark. Also, consider using one of the many park and ride options with Metro Light Rail.

We're setting up a partnership with a new parking company. Stay tuned for more details!

Bus Service:

The Jefferson St & 7th St bus stop is available across the street from the northeast corner of the ballpark.

Rail Service:

Metro Light Rail offers a stop one block west of Chase Field at 3rd Street/Jefferson. Consider using one of the many park and ride options located along the route

Taxi & Rideshare Service:

At this time, there does not appear to be a dedicated taxi stand for games. If you would like a taxi, you may contact Guest Services.

Closest Major Airport: Phoenix Skyharbor International Airport (PHX)
