About Chicagoland Speedway

Chicagoland Speedway is a 1.5 mile oval that opened in 2001 and has hosted several NASCAR, Indy Racing, and many other events in its relatively young history.

Learn more about the teams that play here and upcoming events on our team pages.

Tour Info

There is no formal tour of the track available, but most racing events offer a pit pass, which will allow you close access to the teams before the race. The track also has been known to host events over the years that allow you to drive modified NASCAR and open wheel cars on the track at speeds of 150 mph+

Fan Tips

Chicagoland Speedway offers a traditional intermediate oval racing experience, known for its wide racing surface and multiple grooves that create competitive, side-by-side action.

Located in Joliet, Illinois, the track is primarily accessed by car, with large parking areas surrounding the venue.

Grandstand seating provides clear views of the majority of the track, with higher rows offering the best perspective of the full layout.

Concessions include classic trackside fare, with quick access throughout the venue.

Race weekends often include tailgating and fan activities, making it a full-day motorsports experience.

Security Screenings

Like almost all US and Canadian Stadiums, you will need to enter through a metal detector before entering the stadium.  Be sure to give yourself extra time and don't bring any weapons or devices that could be seen as a weapon inside.  Pat down searches may be required.

Bag Policy

A soft-sided cooler no larger than 6"x6"x 12" and a soft-sided bag no larger than 18"x18"x4" may be brought into the track.  All bags are subject to search.

Note: Bag and security policies listed above are for typical sporting events. Special events, concerts, and other situations may result in variations. Please check the event website for any changes.

Getting to Chicagoland Speedway

Public Transit: See the Rail to Race program under the "Rail" section. METRA and Amtrak partner with the track for a Rail to Race service. Take the train from Union Station in downtown Chicago (METRA) or St Louis (Amtrak). Advanced reservations required, which can be purchased through the track website on the specific race's page.

Rideshare: There is not a specific taxi stand, so leaving could be difficult. It's recommended driving or take the Rail to Race service.

Parking Options

There are several lots around the track, so parking is not an issue. There are shuttles around the track that can bring you from the lot to the track and back again after the race is over. Be prepared to wait in line on the way out.

We're setting up a partnership with a new parking company. Stay tuned for more details.
