About Xcel Energy Center

Oddly enough, professional hockey disappeared from Minnesota for seven years. When the Wild were added as an expansion team, a new stadium was needed and opened in 2000.

Fan Tips

Xcel Energy Center is widely regarded as one of the best pure hockey venues in the NHL, serving as home to the Minnesota Wild.

Located in downtown St. Paul, the arena is accessible by car, rideshare, and nearby transit options.

The seating bowl is designed specifically for hockey, keeping fans close to the ice and enhancing crowd noise.

Concessions include traditional fare along with Minnesota-inspired options.

After the game, fans can explore downtown St. Paul’s restaurants and bars.

Security Screenings

Like almost all US and Canadian Stadiums, you will need to enter through a metal detector before entering the stadium.  Be sure to give yourself extra time and don't bring any weapons or devices that could be seen as a weapon inside.  Pat down searches may be required.

Bag Policy

All large bags such as backpacks, suitcases, beach bags, etc. will be prohibited from entry into the arena.  All bags are subject to inspection before entry.

Note: Bag and security policies listed above are for typical sporting events. Special events, concerts, and other situations may result in variations. Please check the event website for any changes.
