Stadium Information

About Tropicana Field

Tropicana Field opened almost 10 years before the Rays (then Devil Rays) became a franchise. The city of St Petersburg hoped to attract a Major League Baseball franchise as a result of building the stadium beforehand. The small size and the slanted dome make this a unique facility worth checking out the next time you are in Florida.

Fan Tips

Tropicana Field offers a different kind of baseball experience, with its fully enclosed dome providing a consistent environment regardless of Florida’s weather.

Located in St. Petersburg, arrival is typically by car, with parking surrounding the stadium and a straightforward entry process.

Inside, the fixed roof and catwalk structure create a unique visual compared to open-air ballparks. The seating bowl is functional, with decent sightlines throughout.

One of the standout features is the ray tank in center field, where fans can get up close to live stingrays during the game.

After the game, the surrounding area is quieter than most MLB venues, making the in-stadium experience the primary focus of a visit to Tropicana Field.

Security Screenings

Like almost all US and Canadian Stadiums, you will need to enter through a metal detector before entering the stadium.  Be sure to give yourself extra time and don't bring any weapons or devices that could be seen as a weapon inside.  Pat down searches may be required.

Bag Policy

Bags larger than 16" x 16" x 8" are prohibited with the exception of medical bags and diaper bags. All bags are subject to search.

Note: Bag and security policies listed above are for typical sporting events. Special events, concerts, and other situations may result in variations. Please check the event website for any changes.
