This is an interesting arena with the upper concourse almost entirely overlooking the ice. There isn't a bad seat in the house and no matter what, if you're in the 200 level, you enter from the top of the upper deck and go down. In a way, the design is brilliant as even the upper deck is closer to the ice than most arenas.

The proximity of the arena to the Westgate Entertainment District makes it a great area to grab a drink or dinner before a very short walk into the arena, but unfortunately, it seems like Glendale is a poor location to put a hockey arena and that we'll be seeing the Coyotes leave in the next few years.

Westgate staff have the parking situation figured out nicely. There are several lots surrounding the entertainment district and with police assistance it is a very easy out after the game.

Stadium Information

About Gila River Arena:

The Arizona Coyotes (formerly Phoenix Coyotes) played their first seven and a half seasons in downtown Phoenix, but moved to Glendale. The relationship since then with the city of Glendale has been hostile. After the city ripped up a contract with the team in 2015, the future of the team in Glendale is in question.

Tour Info:

There doesn't appear to be any public tour offerings at this time.

Security Screenings:

Like almost all US and Canadian Stadiums, you will need to enter through a metal detector before entering the stadium.  Be sure to give yourself extra time and don't bring any weapons or devices that could be seen as a weapon inside.  Pat down searches may be required.

Bag Policy:

Large bags, suitcases, and beach bags are prohibited.  All bags are subject to inspection upon entry.

Note: Bag and security policy listed above are for typical sporting events. Special events, concerts, and other situations may result in variation to the policy. Please check event website for any changes or variation.
