Free agency has begun, and the offseason is in full swing. The Avalanche have made a litany of moves over the last several days, including bringing back several key free agents while some other walk away. Val Nichushkin re-signs for eight years after an outstanding season. Josh Manson surprisingly comes back, signing a four year deal. Artturi Lehkonen signs an amazing five year contract extension for a very reasonable price. For departures, Andre Burakovsky heads to Seattle and Darcy Kuemper departs for Washington for five years each. In other news, Chris MacFarland is promoted to general manager of the Avs, while Joe Sakic is promoted to team president. Does this change anything about the Avs day to day operations?
