The Atlanta Dream are back in the WNBA Playoffs
It?s WNBA Playoffs time. The playoffs officially kicked off two nights ago on Wednesday, September 13, with the Minnesota Lynx v. Phoenix sun and Chicago Sky v. Las Vegas Aces, the defending WNBA Champions from 2022, and Chicago Sky being the defending champions from 2021.? The Atlanta Dream have had two great back-to-back seasons since drafting Rhyne Howard and have made their way back to the WNBA Playoffs for the first time since 2018. They are the number five seed for the 2023 WNBA Playoffs.? We are so excited to see the Dream in action for Round One of the WNBA Playoffs tonight against the Dallas Wings at 9:30pm et on ESPN2. Game Two is set for Tuesday, September 19, at 9pm et on ESPN with Game Three, if necessary, scheduled for Friday, September 22.? How did the Dream get here this year? Let?s take it back to the 2023 WNBA Draft.? In the first round of the 2023 WNBA Draft, the Dream selected Haley Jones number six overall from Stanford and Laeticia Amihere number eight overall from South Carolina.? Let?s also note the fact that the year prior the Dream selected Rhyne Howard who was named 2022 Rookie of the Year.? The Dream have been led to the playoffs by dominant performances all season from Alisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, and Cheyenne Parker. The team finished the 2023 regular season with a 19-21 record, which is tied for 3rd place in the Eastern Conference and landed the Dream the fifth seed in the playoffs. Alisha Gray and Cheyenne Parker were both named 2023 WNBA All-Stars, and Rhyne Howard was named a 2023 WNBA All-Star Injury Replacement. Head Coach Tanisha Wright was also named Coach of the Month in July. We are super excited to see the Atlanta Dream back in the WNBA Playoffs and hope nothing but success to move to the next round past the Dallas Wings. Don?t forget to tune in tonight at 9:30pm et on ESPN2. #TheWomanSportsMaven of #ChatWithChelseaRenee *Disclaimer: I do not own any rights to photos or videos in this post.
